Daniel Farke: We need to match our performance levels from our last game

9 November 2018

Daniel Farke said City need to “play on the same performance level” as last week if they want a positive result against Millwall on Saturday.

Farke praised defender Timm Klose who has recently been nominated for various monthly awards.

“It was more than deserved for Timm [Klose], he has had some outstanding defensive performances, and has key skills like leadership and great body language which is great.

“He is so important for our build up game, and has the ability to score. We are pleased as he is an outstanding player at this level and for that I am happy.”

The Canaries have had a full weeks training, which has allowed the coaching staff to be more focused on the game on Saturday due to no mid-week fixture.

“In general we were able to focus on this game, it’s good that after two weeks with five games, to be able to put everything down and train consistently, focused from day to day," Farke said.

The City boss reflected on recent award nominations and expressed his feelings on individual awards.

“We are not bothered about who got the most amounts of goals, assists or saves, it’s not about individual awards, and it’s about the success of the team.

“My joy is when I make the people around Norwich City happy and most importantly, the supporters as they have so much passion for the club.”

Farke believes Millwall have a very distinguished style of play, which makes them a hard team to compete against at this level, despite being placed 19th in the table.

“I expect a tough test because they had a really hard start to the season and were struggling, but recently they have done well; their manager [Neil Harris] was nominated for manager of the month," he said.

“You don’t pay too much attention when you look at their league position, but when you judge their performances they are perhaps even better than last season.

“They have a special philosophy and way of playing, a direct style and it’s always difficult [to play against], for me they are the best team in terms of set pieces in the league, it’s always difficult to defend against.”
