Daniel Farke: We need to stick to our style against Middlesbrough

14 September 2018

Daniel Farke says it's important his Norwich City side maintain faith in their style and philosophy for the visit of Middlesbrough to Carrow Road on Saturday.

Boro have started the Sky Bet Championship season well and are currently second in the table with 14 points from a possible 18.

Much of their success has been down to their direct style of play and ability defensively, and Farke wants his team to continue doing what they've done previously in the games where they've had success.

"We played at a high tempo against West Brom, Leeds and Cardiff. It will be difficult to create such a big amount of chances tomorrow but it's important we play with our style," he said.

"We want to control the ball and press high. We don't want to copy a side like Middlesbrough because we don't have the players to do this.

"We have the players to play football. Our game is to control the game with the ball."

Farke says he is well aware of the qualities Boro have: "Middlesbrough are one of the favourites for promotion.

"They have many experienced players. They know how to win games and get promoted. They have an unbelievably experienced coach.

"They've had five clean sheets and are joint top of the league. Our fixtures have been tough so far. We know it's a difficult situation. They are so good at defending."

But he is hoping his team can return to winning ways at Carrow Road.

"We will be brave and we proved in many situations, especially against favourites, that we can deliver and be competitive.

"We know that we aren't favourites tomorrow but we want to win some points."
