Jordan Rhodes placed emphasis on a victory for his Norwich City team over his hat-trick in their 4-3 win over Wycombe Wanderers in Round Three of the Carabao Cup.
Rhodes returned to the starting eleven and took home the matchball after firing City to a 4-1 lead after an hour.
Wycombe scored twice late on and pressed hard for an equaliser but City held on to make it through.
Speaking post-match, Rhodes said: "We're very pleased. We cut it very fine in the end but we dug in and fortunately came off at the end with one more goal than them.
"It's nice to score three and nice to score one. It doesn't matter how they go in.
"It means we're in the next round and we look forward to the draw to see who we get."
Rhodes scored twice in the opening 15 minutes and could have easily sealed his hat-trick earlier than he did but for a harsh looking decision ruling out one of his strikes just prior to half-time.
On that incident, he said: "The disallowed goal was a little bit frustrating because that would have meant three just before half-time.
"So I was wondering going into half-time whether that third would come but fortunately enough it did. It was a superb ball from Emi [Buendia] and i just managed to get a touch on it and guide it in the far post.
Rhodes has had to settle for cameo appearances off the bench in recent games but he hasn't let that dampen his spirits.
"I just try and do the best I can and work as hard I can for the team in whichever game I'm selected in.
"That was tonight and as strikers, you'd like to score a goal or two and I was fortunate enough to score and come off with the matchball.
"It's pleasing [to score] but it's more pleasing that we got the win and we're into the next round."
