Under-18s beaten at Fulham

15 September 2018

Norwich City Under-18s led for large periods but missed out on their first victory of the season on Saturday, going down 3-1 to Fulham at Motspur Park.

The young Canaries started positively, putting immediate pressure on Fulham’s defence, which earned an early penalty.

Anis Mehmeti's initial strike was saved but he scored on the rebound after just two minutes.

Fulham had more possession than City in the first-half but the visitors showed they were much more comfortable on the ball, moving it up the pitch and creating a few good chances, and they led by a goal heading into the break.

The second-half was similar to the first but Fulham capitalised on their chances with Harvey Elliott scoring two penalties, either side of a Fabio Carvalho finish.

Overall, City were much improved from their previous performances and they are back in action this Saturday at home to Arsenal (12pm kick-off).

City XI: Blair, Vaughan (Richardson, 89), Ahmadi, Lomas (c), Akyeampong-Ekumah, Dronfield, Thompson-Brissett (Keller, 85), Milovanovic, Barkarson (Olopade, 86), Thorvaldsson, Mehmeti
