Tampa Bay Rowdies replicated Norwich City’s scoreline at the weekend, beating Hartford Athletic 4-0 with Caleb Richards featuring for the full 90 minutes.
Goals from David Najem, Andrew Tinari and a brace for Sebastian Guenzatti meant the Rowdies carried on their unbeaten start to the season in the USL Championship, picking up 11 points in their first five games.
In England, Ben Marshall started and featured for the full 90 minutes in Millwall’s crucial 2-0 victory against West Bromwich Albion which saw the Lions leap over Reading in the league table and move up to 20th.
Ryan Tunnicliffe opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a drilled effort from the edge of the Baggies box before Ahmed Hegazi’s 66th minute own-goal secured Millwall the three points.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Nelson Oliveira returned for Reading in their 3-1 loss against Hull City. The striker was replaced by Garath McCleary in the 78th minute, straight after Kamil Grosicki netted his second of the game to make it 3-1.
Sean Raggett (Rotherham United) and Yanic Wildschut (Bolton Wanderers) both missed Sky Bet Championship action at their loan clubs through injury.
In League One, James Husband started for Fleetwood Town in their 2-2 draw against Southend United, making it three games unbeaten for the Cod Army, picking up seven points in the process.
Harry Bunn scored Southend’s first with Ched Evans’ close-range strike 59 minutes making it all square. Luke Hyam put the visitors back ahead in the 80th minute, but once again Evans was on-hand to make it level after slotting home an 84th minute penalty.
Ant Spyrou wasn’t involved in Wrexham’s 3-1 victory over Braintree Town on Saturday with the three points helping the Welsh side keep tabs on National League leaders Salford City who are four points ahead of Wrexham.
In Germany, Marcel Franke featured for 85 minutes before getting replaced by Matthias Wittek in SV Darmstadt’s 2-1 defeat against Furth in the 2. Bundesliga.
Matt Jarvis (Walsall), Steven Naismith (Hearts), Simon Power (FC Dordrecht), Mason Bloomfield (AFC Fylde) all missed action at their loan clubs through injury. Timi Odusina (AFC Fylde) was also absent from play.
