Nelson Oliveira featured for Reading on Saturday as they picked up three crucial points at home to Brentford.
The striker played 89 minutes for The Royals as two early goals from Yakou Meite put them ahead, with Neal Maupay’s header just before the break not enough to get them back into the game.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Ben Marshall came on as a second-half substitute for Millwall as they came from behind to secure a point against Sheffield United.
The City loanee replaced Conor McLaughlin in the 58th minute as his side searched for an equaliser, and with five minutes to go Marshall stepped up to take a spot kick for Millwall after a penalty was conceded by John Egan for a hand ball in the penalty area. Egan was also shown a red card.
However Marshall’s right-footed shot hit the bar keeping the score at 1-0, before Jake Cooper scored in injury time for the Lions with a header from the centre of the box.
Both Sean Raggett (Rotherham United) and Yanic Wildschut (Bolton Wanderers) remained out of action at their loan clubs through injuries.
James Husband played the full 90 minutes for Fleetwood Town as they lost 4-2 to Barnsley at the weekend in League One. Fleetwood finished the game with 10-men after Harry Souttar was sent off for an elbow on Cameron McGeehan in an aerial challenge.
Ant Spyrou was not involved in Wrexham’s 2-1 win over Barnet, putting them up to fourth in the National League.
In America, Caleb Richards featured for the full 90 minutes as the Tampa Bay Rowdies drew 1-1 with Louisville City FC, continuing their unbeaten run.
Andrew Tinari gave the Rowdies the lead 15 minutes in with an incredible finish into the top corner from outside the 18-yard box. The Rowdies weathered an intense storm for much of the match despite taking the lead early on, but couldn’t quite hold on until the end, with Abdou Thiam getting the equaliser for Louisville in the 88th minute.
Over in Germany, Marcel Franke was not included in the squad for SV Darmstadt’s 1-0 win over FC Magdeburg in the 2 Bundesliga.
Matt Jarvis (Walsall), Steven Naismith (Hearts), Simon Power (FC Dordrecht), Mason Bloomfield (AFC Fylde) all missed out on action at their loan clubs through injury. Timi Odusina was also not included in the team for AFC Fylde’s game against Braintree Town.
