Teemu Pukki said it had been a pleasure to play with Norwich City in what he described as the best season he has ever had.
The Finnish striker spoke to canaries.co.uk after Saturday night’s game, and tried to sum up just how amazing promotion felt.
He said: “I just can’t describe it. It has been so long but the journey has been amazing, so it’s a dream come true for all of us.
“You can’t describe the feelings we had. I was so tired as well but when the final whistle came it was an unbelievable feeling. We totally deserved this and now we can celebrate.”
Pukki joined the Club on a free transfer last July and has gone on to net 29 goals in all competitions this season, putting him in the running for the Championship top scorer.
When asked if he expected to achieve such success this season, he said: “To be honest no, I didn’t have so many expectations, but you could see from the first moments when I saw the lads and how we were working together that there was a lot of potential, but we didn’t start the season very well so it was not in my mind in the beginning.
"But when we started playing more and more games you could see that this team is something different and I think we totally deserved this.
“We didn’t lose that many times after we found our top level and we’ve been winning so many games. Lately it has been hard to close it and we got some draws but today you could see we really wanted it and we got it.
“I did feel a bit nervous, more than the other games, because we knew if we were going to get the points it would be done.
“It has been the best season I have ever had, and it has been a pleasure from the first moment I came here. It was so easy to come to this team and the support I have had the whole season is unbelievable.
“As a striker your job is to score goals, but you can’t do it without the other guys and they made my season easy.”
