Norwich City's Max Aarons, Ben Godfrey and Todd Cantwell have all been called up to the England Under-21s squad for their upcoming 2021 UEFA European Championship qualifiers.
The trio have carried on their form from last season's successful Sky Bet Championship campaign into the current Premier League season and their performances have been recognised by Young Lions boss Aidy Boothroyd.
They've all played every single minute of the Canaries' three league fixtures so far against Liverpool, Newcastle United and Chelsea.
All three have previous England experience but it's the first time they been called-up to the Under-21s. Aarons and Godfrey both featured last season for the Under-19s and Under-20s respectively, with Cantwell last representing the national side in 2014 with the Under-17s.
Boothroyd's Under-21s were knocked out in the group stages of the 2019 European Championships in the summer and begin their qualifying campaign for the 2021 Euros next week.
They face two qualifiers, with details as follows:
Turkey v England Under-21s
Friday, September 6 (KO TBC)
Kocaeli Stadium, Izmit
England Under-21s v Kosovo
Monday, September 9 (KO 7.45pm)
KCOM Stadium, Hull
Canaries.co.uk caught all three lads for quick chat to react to their maiden U21 call-ups:
Aarons said: "I was delighted to hear the news as it’s my first Under-21s call-up and at 19 years old, I’m still eligible for the Under-20s so it’s massive for me to be selected in the squad.
"My family are really proud of me and obviously the Under-21s is the next step to reaching the senior squad which is my ultimate goal but I’m very thankful to be selected in the team."
Godfrey said: "It’s a massive honour to be called up to the Under-21s squad. I couldn’t wait to tell my family and friends!
"I’ve worked hard to get here, and I’m looking forward to meeting up with the lads. I'm also extremely happy for my teammates, Max and Todd. It's well-deserved for both of them and it will be great to represent the country together.
Cantwell said: "It’s an amazing feeling to be called up to the Under 21s for the upcoming games. It’s a bit surreal to be honest to think that I am playing at this level with Max and Ben as well.
"I’m enjoying my football and am believing in my ability and I just want to try and repay Daniel [Farke] in my performances for the faith he has shown in me."
