Loan Round-Up: Raggett keeps clean sheet against Ipswich

23 December 2019

Sean Raggett gave Portsmouth's promotion hopes a boost with a 1-0 win against Ipswich Town on Saturday, while five other Norwich City loanees were also in action across the weekend.

Raggett played the full 90 at Fratton Park, the clean sheet keeping them tenth in League One and just two points below Oxford United, who occupy the bottom play-off place.

If that result wasn’t tasty enough for the Norwich City loanee, it also meant Ipswich fell out of an automatic promotion position.

There was less to celebrate for James Husband at Blackpool, as the Seasiders lost 1-0 at home to Shrewsbury Town, meaning they fall to seventh in the league, level on points with Oxford but lower on goal difference.

As for Carlton Morris and Rotherham United, they came from behind twice to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to Fleetwood Town, Morris coming on in the 82nd minute to replace Michael Smith. That sandwiches them between Portsmouth and Blackpool in 8th place, one point below the play-offs.

In the Netherlands, Charlie Gilmour was part of the SC Telstar side that beat Jong AZ 3-1 on Sunday, the City loanee playing the full match. That lifts Telstar back up to tenth, comfortably mid-table in the Eerste Divisie.

Back on British shores, Mason Bloomfield played the final 22 minutes of Crawley Town’s 2-1 League Two loss away to Oldham Athletic on Saturday. Crawley fall to 18th but remain seven points above the drop.

As for League Two’s league leaders, Swindon Town surprisingly gave away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, City loanee Diallang Jaiyesimi making a cameo appearance in the 93rd minute in place of Keshi Anderson. Swindon stay top, three points above Exeter City.
