Two early second-half goals saw Norwich City fall to defeat on Sunday afternoon at the hands of Sheffield United.
City bossed the opening period and deservedly led at the break thanks to a terrific half-volley from Alex Tettey.
However, the visitors roared back after the restart and goals from Enda Stevens and George Baldock turned the game on its head.
The Canaries failed to recover from that and ending up on the losing side.
With it being City’s third game in the space of a week, Daniel Farke shuffled his pack by making three changes to his starting eleven. Tettey captained the team on his return, with Mario Vrancic and Emi Buendia also coming in.
The opening 15 minutes were cagey with neither side able to create anything going forward. City were enjoying more of the ball without threatening the scoreline.
The first proper effort on goal came from the visitors as a loose Ben Godfrey header saw the ball fall kindly to David McGoldrick in the area but his strike was a tame one and it rolled into the arms of Tim Krul.
Moments later, City earn their rewards for a superior start but it came about in scrappy fashion. A corner from Buendia wasn’t dealt with by United and that allowed Tettey to rifle home an unstoppable strike into the bottom corner and past the hands of Dean Henderson.
City sensed blood and they were beginning the break the lines more often. That being said, goalmouth action was still few and far between.
There was a flurry of efforts towards the end of the half at both ends, with Vrancic and Ollie Norwood both firing wide from distance. Vrancic tested Henderson in stoppage time with a low drive, just as the half-time whistle blew.
The Blades came out a different side after the break and managed to turn the game on its head with two goals in three minutes.
First, Stevens nodded into the far corner from a Baldock cross before the provider of the first twisted and turned in the area to fire into the opposite corner.
They had the ball in the net a third time shortly after but VAR ruled that John Lundstram was offside in the build-up.
City make a double change with 20 minutes to go, Todd Cantwell and Jamal Lewis coming on for Sam Byram and Onel Hernandez.
There was drama shortly after when Chris Basham was shown a straight red card for a late lunge on McLean. However, VAR got involved once again and changed the card to a yellow.
United had two golden opportunities to extend their lead with ten minutes to play, twice through David McGoldrick on the counter attack but on both occasions, he missed the target.
Then it was City's turn to go close. Teemu Pukki played it back to Buendia on the edge who slid in the onrushing Cantwell but his goalbound strike was expertly saved by Henderson.
City rallied late on but couldn't change the scoreline as United headed back with the points.
