Canary fan groups have been set up all over the world with supporters flying the yellow and green flag in New York, Hong Kong and Dubai to name a few.
But closer to home, Norwich City also has a wealth of supporter groups throughout the UK, with a big following based in London. And in the third instalment of our Canary Citizens series, we meet Andrea Ansell from the Capital Canaries!
Formed in 1975, the group has members from across London and the home counties as well as further afield from fans who previously lived in the capital.
Andrea, 55, said: “The group was started in 1975 by Greg Peck, helped by other clubs who are part of The Association of Provincial Supporters Clubs in London.
“I live in North London and got involved when I moved here in 1984, although I have supported Norwich since the 1970s.
“I picked Norwich because all my family support different teams and I wanted to be different!”
The Capital Canaries are always well supported at Norwich’s Global Canaries Day, which takes place this year on Saturday, April 19, when City take on Sheffield Wednesday at Carrow Road.
Andrea said: “I have a home and away season ticket, so I generally only miss a couple of games a season. I only miss a game if I am abroad.
“I love Norwich because it’s my club good or bad. I like the involvement with the club and the other supporters.”
