Daniel Farke: It will be a game where we have to be patient

17 January 2019

Daniel Farke said his City side will need to be patient creating chances to score as they take on Birmingham City on Friday evening.

The City boss said they face a solid team who are “unbelievably hard to beat”, with the Blues travelling to Carrow Road for their second encounter this season.

Farke said: “Birmingham are a team which play in a different style in comparison to us, they are well structured, well-disciplined against the ball and solid in their shape against the ball.

"They have big threats in the offence so when you have Jota and Maghoma and two strikers who are scoring goals with Jutkiewicz and Adams, then you have players on the pitch who can create really good moments. We will have to be unbelievably awake.

“It is difficult to create chances against them and difficult to score against them and we are aware of this. It will be important that we control the ball but also control the counters and their offensive players. We will have to be patient in order to create chances and score.”

Speaking during today's press conference, Farke called on Canary fans to continue their brilliant support and help the team keep momentum throughout the game.

He said: “We know that Carrow Road is a fortress this season. The game against Nottingham was crazy with an unbelievable explosion in the stadium and we lost against Derby which was unlucky because it was a crazy game, but we are looking forward to winning points again.

“We have to play this game without several key players [Alex Tettey, Moritz Leitner, Timm Klose] and with players like Marco Stiepermann who are just back after injury, so it’s not an easy situation.

"But we are greedy to win points and for that we need Carrow Road to again be a fortress and we 100% need our supporters because it will be a game where we have to be patient because it’s difficult to create chances against Birmingham.

“We will need also the patience of our supporters because there will be difficult periods in the game and we need our supporters to carry us and help us and all together in one unit we will have a big chance to win points.”
