Loan round-up: Raggett injured against Ipswich

14 January 2019

Sean Raggett started his second consecutive game for Rotherham United in the Sky Bet Championship but was forced off with an injury he suffered in the first half.

The Millers lost against Ipswich Town on Saturday at Portman Road. And after going 1-0 down 30 minutes in, Rotherham were forced into making an early substitution as Raggett collided with Luke Chambers which left the defender unable to continue.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Yanic Wildshut was not involved in the matchday squad for Bolton Wanderers' trip to Ashton Gate. The midfielder suffered an injury last week in the FA Cup third round which means he will be out for around three months due to needing an operation on his ankle.

In the Sky Bet League One, Matt Jarvis started for Walsall who lost 2-1 against Scunthorpe United on Saturday afternoon. Nicky Devlin equalised in the 53rd minute, but Lee Novak’s goal for the visitors with 20 minutes to play was enough to secure all three points for Scunthorpe.

Tristan Abrahams was an unused substitute for Exeter City in their 0-0 draw against Morecambe at St James’ Park in League Two. Despite drawing, the Grecians didn’t lose pace with the Championship play off places, and sit just one point off sixth placed Carlisle United with a game in hand.

City’s Under-23s midfielder Simon Power joined FC Dordrecht in the Eerste Divisie last week, and was part of the matchday squad for the Dutch side’s game against Den Bosch. Renny Smith and Jeremy Cijntje scored for the home side, but the two goals were not enough to get anything from the game, with Dordrecht losing 6-2. The result means they remain bottom of the second division.

Neither Marcel Franke or Steven Naismith were in action over the weekend due to their respective league’s winter breaks. Hearts return to match action on Sunday coming up against Livingston in the Scottish Cup, while SV Darmstadt have another week until they return to action when they come against FC. St Pauli in the 2. Bundesliga.

Billericay lost 2-1 at home against Chippenham Town, with Adam Coombes scoring their
only goal in the 38th minute.

Devonte Aransibia came on as a substitute for Billericay Town in the 70th minute. The attacking midfielder replaced Moses Emmanuel, but was unable to help the National League South side find an equaliser.

Billy Johnson started his second consecutive game for Lowestoft Town since joining them on a month-long loan. Jamie Godbold’s side drew 1-1 against fifth placed Rushden and Diamonds.
