Norwich City's Under-18s are back in action in the FA Youth Cup, competing in the fourth round against Preston North End on Tuesday (7pm kick-off).
City’s Under-18s progressed through to the fourth round after beating Port Vale at Vale Park in their last FA Youth Cup fixture. Saul Milovanovic opened the scoring with an outstanding 25-yard curling effort before Ethen Vaughan doubled the visitors' lead.
With under 10 minutes of the game remaining, Port Vale turned the game on its head, scoring a quick fire double to make it all square with just over five minutes to go. However, Atli Barkarson came to City’s rescue in stoppage time with the full-back scoring directly from a corner to win the game for the Canaries.
Preston North End currently play in the EFL Youth Alliance League, sitting second in Group B. They beat Carlisle United last time out in the league, with goals coming from Josh Pollard, Adam O’Reiley and a Jack Baxter brace.
City’s opponents progressed through to round four after beating Charlton Athletic on penalties in the last round.
Jack Baxter scored a penalty within the first five minutes, but weren’t able to keep a hold of the lead, conceding just after half-time with Kareem Isiaka scoring from the penalty spot.
Ethan Walker put the home side ahead ten minutes later with yet another penalty, however Euyan Williams pulled the game back again for Charlton 15 minutes from time. Preston went on to beat Charlton 3-1 on penalties after neither team could manage to find a goal in extra-time.
