Under-23s return to action against Reading

5 January 2019

Norwich City's Under-23s return to action on Monday after a short festive break and are up against Reading at Hogwood Park (1pm kick-off).

Their last game before the break was against Sunderland at Colney Training Centre, which saw the two sides share the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Ant Spyrou scored City’s goal with a first-half strike from close range, but it was cancelled out by a Benjamin Mbunga-Kimpioka goal with 10 minutes to go.

The result meant City maintained their position of 11th in the table, but a win on Monday lunch-time could see them move up to 9th.

City's opponents are at the opposite end of the league, and are in the fight for top spot in the Premier League Two Division Two. Reading currently sit 4th in the table just three points behind leaders Southampton with a game in hand.

Last time out, Reading's Under-23s fell short at the Madejski Stadium losing against Manchester United on Sunday, December 16. Angel Gomes’ second-half penalty was the difference between the two sides.

Danny Loader has been the Royals’ main goal threat this season, scoring eight goals in his last nine games in the competition. His quality performances for the Under-23s have seen him earn a first-team call up on a number of occasions.
