Patrick Roberts: Premier League preparations are going well

28 July 2019

Patrick Roberts thinks Norwich City’s performance in their 5-1 win over Luton Town bodes well for the upcoming Premier League season.

City put in their most complete display of pre-season so far at Kenilworth Road to down the Sky Bet Championship newcomers and Roberts says the team are getting better with every day.

“It was another good test against a good side who are obviously starting their season on Friday,” he said.

“We knew they would be up for it so we came here with a plan to win the game and to continue our performances in this pre-season.

“We have to keep going and plugging away for the start of the season, which isn’t too far away now.

“We’ve just got to keep working hard, get the games in and results in and build the momentum for the start of the season.”

Roberts netted his first goal in City colours in the rout, firing home an unstoppable effort from outside the box.

“I’ve done that throughout my whole career so as long as I get the ball, I look for a pass or look for a cross or hope for the top corner or the side netting and thankfully it went in.

“I was pleased [with my performance], I have struggled in pre-season in the past so I’ve had some good games now and some good minutes.”
