Friday’s Sky Bet Championship match against Swansea City sees the Club once again recognise locally-based service personnel as part of our annual Armed Forces Day.
To celebrate City fans serving around the county and country in our Armed Forces, there will be a half-time pitch parade joined by representatives of The Royal Navy, The Royal Marines, The Royal Air Force, The Women’s Royal Army Corps, Queen Alexandra’s Royal Nursing Corps, Combined Ex Services Association, The Royal British Legion, The Parachute Regiment, Norwich Veterans, RAF Marham and members of Forces2Canaries supporters group.
The Club is also delighted to welcome special guest Joan Awbery as our Community Hero. Joan joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service during the Second World War, working as a PA to a Brigade Major and was part of the Army Kinematograph Service to provide films required by the Army. For the remaining months of the war, Joan was sent to Brussels as a secretary and also spent the celebration of VE Day amongst the Belgians and local residents.
Norwich City Football Club wishes them all an enjoyable day at Carrow Road and supporters can show their appreciation when they are introduced to the crowd at half-time.
