A stoppage-time free-kick from James Husband salvaged a draw for Fleetwood Town at the weekend.
The League One side went a goal down to Gillingham in the 83rd minute from a Tom Eaves header which found its way into the bottom left corner. Ahead of that, Fleetwood had a penalty appeal waved away after Lewis Coyle was brought down by Leonardo Lopes.
However, Husband's fantastic free-kick in the 91st minute earned the Cod Army a point at home and his first goal for the club.
Elsewhere in League One, Matt Jarvis played the full 90 minutes for Walsall in their 0-0 draw with Burton Albion. A decent chance came for Jarvis in the second half when Zeli Ismail found him in the box, but his first-time shot went just wide.
In the Championship, Nelson Oliveira got the opener in Reading’s 2-1 win over Ipswich Town at Portman Road. Oliveria’s right footed shot from the centre of the box found the top left corner 19 minutes in, giving Reading the lead for the majority of the game.
Ipswich found a way back in with a goal from Gwion Edwards in the 83rd minute, but they couldn’t hold on until the final whistle, conceding again in the 90th minute to a left-footed shot from Modou Barrow.
Ben Marshall was unavailable for selection as his loan club lost 3-1 to Norwich at home. City took the lead when Marco Stiepermann nestled home a rebound but Millwall responded just before the break with a Shaun Williams header. However, second-half goals from Christoph Zimmermann and Teemu Pukki gave Norwich all three points.
Sean Raggett was absent from the Rotherham matchday squad.
Tristan Abrahams scored a second-half brace in Yeovil Town’s 3-2 win over fellow relegation-battlers Morecambe in League Two.
Richie Bennett gave Morecambe the lead in the 22nd minute with a header, however two goals in four minutes from Abrahams turned things around for the host side.
Abrahams found the bottom corner in the 58th minute, before picking out the same spot in the 62nd minute to give Yeovil the lead. Morecambe thought they had salvaged a point in the 83rd minute when Steve Old turned in a cross from Liam Mandeville, however Ryan Seager scored six minutes after coming off the bench, curling in a shot from 25-yards out.
In the National League, Timi Odusina came on in the 92nd minute for AFC Fylde in their 2-1 win over Maidenhead United on Saturday.
In Holland, Simon Power came on in the 81st minute in FC Dordrecht’s 2-2 draw with NEC in the Eerste Divisie, while in Germany Marcel Franke played the full 90 minutes for SV Darmstadt in yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to Arminia in the 2 Bundesliga.
Over in America, Caleb Richards played in the Tampa Bay Rowdies’ final pre-season game against USF Men’s Soccer. The Rowdies wrapped up their friendlies with a 2-1 win, thanks to goals from Sebastian Guenzatti and Kwadwo Poku. The Rodwies are now preparing for their first game of the USL Championship against Memphis 901 FC on Saturday, March 9.
