Celebrate City legends with new book!

16 November 2019

Norwich City are delighted to launch our latest book, Icons, in association with football design studio Patterns of Play.

Featuring illustrations and written profiles of all 23 Norwich legends to have played 300 or more times for the club, Icons is a unique publication. For just £12, you can get your copy online HERE and in our stores.

Twenty-three men have represented Norwich City on 300 or more occasions, and this collection of their stories brings City’s leading appearance-makers together for the very first time.

From modern-day legends like Russell Martin and Wes Hoolahan, to the icons of Europe such as Bryan Gunn and Mark Bowen, through to all-time greats like Dave Stringer, Kevin Keelan and Duncan Forbes, these illustrious men of Norwich are celebrated throughout Icons

Each illustration has been curated by Norwich-based Patterns of Play. It continues the club’s partnership with the design studio, who produced memorable bespoke covers for each issue of our matchday programme in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

The stories of the 23 legends have been written by Norwich City’s publications manager Dan Brigham, Canaries historian Edward Couzens-Lake and local writer Nick Hayhoe.

Dan Brigham says: “Our partnership with Patterns of Play is unique among football clubs, and we’re really pleased to be continuing it with this book. It’s fantastic to see something that started off as a much-loved feature in last season’s matchday programme turn into this wonderful publication.

“In an era when longevity at football clubs is increasingly rare, there is all the more reason to honour the 23 players who donned the yellow and green on over 300 occasions.”

Matt Whitehead of Patterns of Play says: “We’re really proud to have designed and produced this book after a lot of hard work and dedication. Icons celebrates a unique collection of Norwich City legends alongside a talented group of artists that we had the pleasure of working with for last season’s programme covers.

“To see the collection of portraits we curated come together in one publication is the perfect way to commemorate the project, the artists and the legends. The book itself provides a timeless snapshot of the club’s history and is a must-have gift for every die-hard Canaries fan!”
