Campaign launched to raise £1 million for The Nest

Norwich City Football Club and the Community Sports Foundation, the Club’s official charity, have launched a four-month campaign to raise £1 million for The Nest – the Foundation’s community hub in Horsford, Norwich.

The money would enable building works to begin on the second phase of The Nest, including a 3G artificial football pitch, an IT learning suite, and two multi-use spaces, which would allow the Foundation to extend its reach by another 12,000 local people.

Norwich City Football Club have pledged to match-fund every pound raised up to a total of £500k, as well as highlighting the campaign at the home Premier League fixture with Manchester United on October 27.

The total cost of the second phase of development is £4.6 million, with the additional £3.6 million made up from previous fundraising, and current funding bids.

The Nest is a multi-purpose community hub that has been designed to provide the ideal environment for the Foundation to address local issues such as health and wellbeing, education and training, disability sports, and community cohesion, as well as providing facilities for grassroots football, sports participation, and events.

In addition, The Nest will become the new home for Norwich City Women FC.

The second phase would add to the existing grass football pitches, bunk boxes and renovated clubhouse, which officially opened in September 2018.

A host of events are planned as part of the fundraising campaign, including the Credo Canaryball Rally on October 9-13, which sees 15 cars travel over 2,200 miles across Europe to visit the three stadiums at which the Canaries played during their famous 1993 UEFA Cup run.

A sponsorship page for the fundraiser has been set up and donations are welcome.

The Club and Foundation are hoping to gain support for the campaign from many different areas of the football and wider community, including Canaries supporters and supporter groups, Club and Foundation commercial partners, local businesses, local clubs, and schools.
