Support CSF and take part in the #TwoPointSixChallenge

22 April 2020

Like many other charities across the UK, the Community Sports Foundation has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak with vital income streams from our fundraisers and various fundraising events being cut-off.

In response, a new national campaign to raise vital funds to help us and other UK charities has been created by some of the organisers of the biggest mass participation sports events in the country.

The #TwoPointSixChallenge starts this coming Sunday, April 26, and we’d love for you to choose CSF as your chosen cause.

If you’ve not heard about the national campaign, which aims to be the world’s biggest one-day fundraising event, here’s how it works:

All you need to do is dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 that suits your skills and complete it either on or from Sunday 26 April.

This could be something as simple as pledging to run or ride 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, holding the plank for 2.6 minutes. It’s your chance to be creative!

There are no rules, apart from the Government guidelines on how to exercise safely during this time. The main thing is to get active, have fun, and pledge whatever you can to help or fundraise for your chosen charity.

We’d love your support!

Why choose us?

Our vision is ‘to support, inspire, and improve our community’ and we do this in so many different ways.

In addition to many of our usual projects that help people with disabilities or people from disadvantaged backgrounds, we have just set up the Canaries COVID-19 Community Project.

The project is helping the county’s short-term response to the crisis and further fundraising will also allow us to deliver longer-term projects that help those who have been negatively impacted by issues such as inactivity, poor mental health or loss of employment or housing.

How do I get going?

It’s easy.

Choose your challenge, head to Virgin Money Giving, set up a fundraising page and choose to support the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation.

Then, be sure to let all your friends and family know that you’re doing the challenge so they can sponsor you. Don’t forget to tag @NorwichCityCSF into your social media posts, so we can see your challenges.

About the #TwoPointSixChallenge

The UK charity sector estimates it will lose £4 billion in income as a result of the pandemic.

With hundreds of events postponed due to the pandemic, thousands of charities have had to reduce or stop services at a time when vulnerable members of society need them most.

The 2.6 Challenge can be anything that works for you,” says Nick Rusling, Co-Chair of the Mass Participation Sports Organisers group (MSO) and CEO of Human Race. “You can run or walk 2.6 miles, 2.6km or for 26 minutes. You could do the same in your home or garden, go up and down the stairs 26 times, juggle for 2.6 minutes, do a 26 minute exercise class or get 26 people on a video call and do a 26 minute workout – anything you like. We want people to get active, have fun and raise money to help Save the UK’s Charities by giving money or raising funds for the charity close to your heart.”
