SOUL Church to perform half-time Christmas carols

19 December 2020

Today we welcome SOUL Church to Carrow Road.

SOUL Church and their SOUL Foundation, a non-for-profit organisation help give a hand to those who need it most in Norfolk and around the world by providing food, clothing, education and support to vulnerable men, women, and children. They will bring the festive cheer to our half-time interval by singing three Christmas carols; O Holy Night, A Hallelujah Christmas and O Come, All Ye Faithful.

We are also delighted to highlight SOUL Foundation volunteer, Ed Weber as our fourth Community Hero in partnership with Fosters Solicitors for today’s game.

“I started volunteering at Soul Foundation last Christmas. I have always had a passion for mission work, and this is one way of helping and giving to the community. Due to COVID-19, many people have struggled and the basic thing that everybody needs but some cannot afford is food.

“In response to COVID-19, Soul Foundation set up a food distribution hub for Norwich and surrounding areas, so I help deliver those food packages to families in the local area and wider community. The foundation helps bring smiles to so many families and it is wonderful to be part off and witness the gratitude from everyone we have delivered too,” says the 60-year-old.

For a second year running, SOUL Church and Soul Foundation have launched The Wonder Tree campaign in partnership with Norwich City to bring hope and joy to children in Norwich this Christmas. During the global pandemic, the lives of children and families have been turned upside down and the need is greater than ever before.

The initiative allows people to sponsor a gift with a donation of £10 and with each donation, a board game is purchased which will be individually wrapped and delivered to children in partnering local schools in time for Christmas. The intention is that a board game will provide an activity for children to do with their families on Christmas Day.

“Especially during these difficult times, there are many families and individuals who are struggling so by getting involved in The Wonder Tree initiative, we can start making a difference together and can give hope to those in need,” added Ed.

Jon Norman, Senior Pastor of SOUL Church and Norwich City Club Chaplain, said: “The Wonder Tree initiative is a fantastic collaboration with Norwich City, making a difference in the lives of children in Norwich. We can't do everything, but together we can do something to bring joy this Christmas!”
