Norwich City Under-18s took their sixth loss of the season after a 5-2 defeat to Reading on Saturday afternoon.
The U18s made four changes from the side that beat Southampton 2-1 the week prior, most notably goalkeeper Reece Trueman making his U18s debut for the side.
The Royals got off to a quick start, finding the back of the net by the fifth minute through Mamadi Camara, who tucked his effort away nicely past Trueman.
Nahum Melvin-Lambert was quick to capitalise on the momentum, doubling the hosts’ lead just another five minutes later.
City defender Brad Hills managed to get one back for the Canaries 26 minutes into the first half, seeing his effort past Harvey Collins to get the Canaries back in the game.
After putting up a fight in a competitive end to the first half, the Royals again increased their lead, forcing Lewis Shipley to turn the ball into the back of his own net, taking Reading’s lead back to two.
Coming out for the second half, Melvin-Lambert turned goalscorer to assister, setting Kelvin Ehibhaimha up for his first goal of the afternoon, seeing the scores to 4-1.
Just over five minutes later, Melvin-Lambert bagged his second of the afternoon, nestling his chance in the back of the net to make it five for the Royals.
The Canaries went on to get another one back, this time Jon Rowe converting a penalty from the spot after a foul in the 18-yard box.
The last 25 minutes of the game going on to be goalless, the young Canaries returned to Norfolk empty-handed after their 5-2 defeat to the Royals.
