Daniel Farke admitted that the “better side won” as his Norwich City side were beaten 4-0 by Manchester United.
Goals from Marcus Rashford (2), Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood ensured the points stayed in Manchester.
Speaking to canaries.co.uk after the game, Farke said: “We have to accept the loss because the better side won the game, without any doubt.
“Even in the first-half, Manchester United dominated the game and were the better side. We were not that accurate in our passing and our possession.
“From the start, it was a really difficult game for us. We still had the chance to stay in the game, we had some chances close to the half-time whistle, the best of them from Todd Cantwell when the goalkeeper [David De Gea] was there with a top class save.
“When you’re just 1-0 down, you’re still in the game and you still have a chance to come back. But the game defining moment was when we conceded so quick after the half-time whistle.
“It was an unnecessary penalty and also a crossing situation when we were five against one in our own six-yard box.
“To be 3-0 back against arguably the best counter attacking side in this league is, of course, very tough.”
Farke handed a first Premier League start to 18-year-old Adam Idah and he praised the young striker after he was thrown in at the deep end.
“It was difficult for him in front of 70,000 people to be there with his first appearance in a Premier League starting line-up. Sometimes, you have to jump in the water.
“We got the feeling it was his chance because we have several injured strikers. Teemu Pukki and Josip Drmic will come back in the next days and it was a diffuclt situation.
“We backed him and he worked a lot. I was pleased with his workload and I didn’t expect any miracles from him.”
Club captain Grant Hanley limped off on 80 minutes but the City boss thinks it was down to a minor bout of cramp.
“It seems like it’s just cramp. He was struggling with illness during this week but thank god, he was available. Hopefully, it’s not a strain but we’ll have to see how things develop over the next few days.”
