Norwich City centre-back Louis Lomas has joined USL Championship side Tampa Bay Rowdies on loan.
The Under-23s defender will spend the upcoming season with the American club, including any play-off games at the end of the campaign.
Lomas made nine appearances for the Canaries U23s side this season, scoring one and assisting one.
Lomas revealed his reaction to the loan move, saying he was nervous at first due to the sheer surprise of it all, before realising what a decision it could be for his development.
“When I first found out about the loan, I was nervous, just because it was so unexpected. As I started to think more about it, I became more and more excited about the opportunity.
“This loan is something that can really help, playing in a first team with a completely different atmosphere, in a completely different country is something that I think can get me to the next step in my career.”
“I found out about the loan quite recently, it was all a bit fast but it’s great to know.”
With a new team in a new league comes new challenges. Lomas says this is something is ready for; confident he is prepared to adapt and develop a new style of play.
“I’ve heard they play a completely different formation, have completely different tactics and just in general the league play football differently, so I’ll have to adapt.
“As a player, being able to play under different circumstances in general will help me as I develop in all different areas of the game, so I’m really excited to start.”
Everyone at Norwich City would like to wish Louis the very best for the league campaign ahead.
Details of the next stage of the club’s partnership with #TeamTampaBay and the Tampa Bay Rowdies will be announced in due course.
