Looking ahead to Sunday’s clash against Manchester City, Daniel Farke says the team need to appreciate what they’re coming up against, whilst being bold themselves on the pitch.
“In order to get a point or even three, we need Man City to be off as well as us playing well," he said. "Even if they use 95 percent of their level most teams won't have a chance.
“Many teams have been thrashed by Man City in recent weeks, but they lost to Arsenal, so we are aware of what we face. It's important to be respectful, but also brave. We need to take their quality away from in front of our goal.
“We have to be respectful, but we did get results against the big teams. We know we are capable if we are spot on in our game, but on the other hand it's unbelievably difficult to do it twice in one season, I don't think anyone has won twice in one season over Pep Guardiola at Man City, Bayern Munich or Barcelona!”
Away from the final game of the season, Farke is pleased with the signings the club has made this week, as Jacob Sorensen and Przemyslaw Placheta joined ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
Speaking in his pre-Manchester City press conference, Farke said the signings can add to what is needed most in the current first-team squad.
“Our scouting and recruitment are always aware of the benefit young talent can bring us," he said. "I'm pleased with our last two signings, Sorensen and Placheta.
“Sorensen is a great holding midfielder who can pass and score, Placheta is an exciting young talent with unbelievable pace.
“In general, I always try to be flexible with the squad and add to it what I don't have. It's always good to have a traditional winger who can cut inside and use his pace.
“Placheta has proved himself on a proper level, we're just hoping he adapts and proves himself in our squad quickly. We were searching for pace on the wings and physicality in the midfield, so I think we've found some good additions to our squad.”
