FPL Round-Up: February winner announced

9 March 2020

With another month of Fantasy Premier League done and dusted, it’s time to take a look at how members of the Official Canaries league fared in February.

Congratulations to Ahmed Mohamed, who topped the league for February with a total of 293 points, 24 clear of the manager in second place thanks to his smart captain choices!

His captaincy of Roberto Firmino for Liverpool’s 4-0 win at home to Southampton in Gameweek 25 set Mohamed on the front foot with 66 points, before he really asserted his authority in GW26.

Putting the captain’s armband on Kevin De Bruyne for Manchester City’s 2-0 win at home to West Ham United was a great choice, the Belgian earning Mohamed 28 points with a goal and assist.

Returns from Heung Min-Son, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Liverpool’s defence amassed a total of 93 points that week, 37 above the average.

Mohamed showed no signs of slowing down in GW27, playing his Bench Boost chip to excellent effect to reap 14 points from Bruno Fernandes against Watford. There were points aplenty from Diogo Jota, Matt Doherty, and Aubameyang as Mohamed earned 89 points in total.

Doherty, Jota, Fernandes and Doucoure again returned points in GW28, while Martin Dubravka kept a clean sheet against Burnley to ensure Mohamed comfortably topped the table at the end of the month. As you can see from the standings, it was much closer between third and tenth!

But which Norwich City players offered the most value for money in FPL during February? With two clean sheets, a goal and an assist, it comes as no surprise that our defenders accrued more points than our attackers.

As well as those clean sheets, Tim Krul made five saves against Liverpool and three against Wolves, putting him at the top of the Bonus Points System in both matches. In total, the Dutchman earned 23 points in February’s four games, so not a bad differential goalkeeper priced at just £4.5m!

Jamal Lewis didn’t feature in our stalemate at St. James’ Park, so he missed out on that clean sheet but did pick up 15 points with his strike against Leicester City at the end of the month.

Our highest scoring outfield player, however, was Max Aarons, who netted 18 points thanks to the Newcastle and Leicester clean sheets and the assist for Lewis’ goal! At £4.3m, Aarons could be another sneaky differential thanks to his desire to get forward as well as the odd clean sheet.
