Philip Heise made his first competitive start since the resumption of professional football in Germany on Tuesday night.
FC Nurnberg began the restart looking over their shoulders in the Bundesliga 2 table and their form over the past three games has done little to ease their relegation fears.
They were indebted to a late own goal by Jahn Regensburg's Tim Knipping on Tuesday, helping them salvage a point on the road.
The match ended 2-2 with Heise being withdrawn at half-time. Next up for Nurnberg is the visit of Bochum on Saturday.
