International round-up: Pukki assists for Finland in Nations League

Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki made his contribution to Finland’s 2-0 win over Bulgaria with an assist on Sunday evening.

The Finnish forward helped get the Huuhkajat their first goal of the game, when he set Robert Taylor up for a tidy finish over the Bulgarian side in the start of the second-half. Pukki would go on to play 87 minutes of the game, making way for Rasmus Karjaleinen for the last three.

Kenny McLean’s Scotland took a 1-0 win over Slovakia in their Nations League fixture, the midfielder featuring in all 90 minutes. The win leaves Scotland top of Group B2 after their third fixture.

City shot-stopper Michael McGovern earnt a place in the Northern Ireland starting eleven, taking a 1-0 loss to Austria. The loss leaves the Irish side fourth in Group B1 of the Nations League, three points behind third-place Romania.

McGovern wasn’t the only ‘keeper in action, Tim Krul was an unused substitute in the Netherlands 0-0 draw with Bosnia & Herzegovina in their Nations League tie. The result sees the national side sit in second-place of Group A1, with Poland and Italy having a game in hand.

Meanwhile, City youngster Adam Idah wasn’t in the matchday squad for the Republic of Ireland’s 0-0 draw with Wales. The point sees Stephen Kenny’s side sit third in Group B4, four points behind second-place Finland and five points behind first-place Wales.
