Loan Round-Up: Soto scores twice on full Telstar debut

Norwich City loanee Sebastian Soto scored two goals in his first start for SC Telstar against Den Bosch last Monday.

Telstar won 6-1, with Soto only playing the first half and fellow City loanee Dan Adshead on the pitch for 67 minutes.

On Friday, Telstar lost 3-0 away to Jong PSV, with Soto and Adshead playing 45 and 68 minutes respectively. Telstar are now fifth in the Eerste Divisie with ten points from six games.

In League One, Akin Famewo was part of the Charlton Athletic defence that kept a clean sheet in their 0-0 draw at home to Sunderland on Saturday.

The Addicks are now 14th in League One with four points from four games.

A few Canaries were in action in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup across the weekend, Joe Rose getting the best result with Bury Town’s 4-1 win at home to Waltham Abbey on Saturday.

Slough Town also advanced to the third qualifying round, with Louis Lomas involved in their 1-0 win away to Dartford.

As for Caleb Richards, his involvement in Kidderminster Harriers’ game was less successful as they lost 4-2 on penalties to Alvechurch after drawing 2-2 in 90 minutes.

In the National League, King’s Lynn Town kicked off their campaign in front of the BT Sport cameras with a 2-2 draw at home to Yeovil Town. Simon Power played 87 minutes as the Linnets twice came from behind to draw.

Waasland-Beveren defied the odds to salvage a 1-1 draw at home to Genk on Saturday, with Danel Sinani playing the full 90 minutes. They now sit 17th in the Belgian Pro League with four points from eight games.

Slightly higher in the division are KV Mechelen, who lost 4-1 away to Royal Antwerp on Friday with Rocky Bushiri playing 90 minutes and scoring an own goal. Incidentally, former City forward Dieumerci Mbokani was also on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Returning to League One, Carlton Morris featured in 84 minutes of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich Town, a result which leaves Russell Martin’s side bottom of the division with two points from four games.

Over in Iceland, Isak Thorvaldsson played 79 minutes of Sunday’s 4-0 defeat at home to Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarða for IA Akranes, who are now eighth in Urvalsdeild with 21 points from 18 games.

Philip Heise played the first half of Karlsruher SC’s 1-0 defeat away to Jahn Regensburg on Saturday. The former are bottom of the 2. Bundesliga having lost their first three games.

Sam McCallum made a late appearance for Coventry City on Friday night, coming on in the 87th minute of the Sky Blues 3-1 defeat at home to AFC Bournemouth, while Matthew Richardson came on in the 90th for Leiston’s 2-1 win away to Leighton Town.
