Norwich City Under-18s returned to Norfolk empty-handed after a 5-1 loss to Arsenal at Shenley Training Centre on Saturday afternoon.
The side made six changes from their 4-3 loss to Chelsea in the week prior, most notably Alex Matos making his debut in the U18 Premier League after moving up from the U16s.
The Gunners got off to the better of starts out of the sides, finding the back of the net as early as the sixth minute, Khayon Edwards the scorer.
Continuing their early control of the game, Kido Taylor-Hart earned himself a brace in just eleven minutes to see the hosts up by three by the 25-minute mark.
Holding out until half-time, the Canaries went into the break three goals down after a sharp start from the Gunners.
Coming out for the second half, Arsenal were motivated to carry their lead over the line, while the Canaries were in need of a big 45 minutes to swing the game in their way in hopes to earn at least a point.
Ultimately, it was Arsenal who would find the back of the net again, Taylor-Hart rounding off his hat-trick in the 62nd minute.
Luke Plange saw the scoring out for the Gunners, scoring their fifth and final goal in the 72nd minute.
Whilst it wasn’t in ideal conditions, the young forward Matos could take at least one positive on his debut for the Canaries, getting a late goal back for the City side in the dying moments of the game.
