The work of Norwich City Football Club and the Community Sports Foundation during the COVID-19 pandemic has been recognised by the Eastern Daily Press Norfolk Business Awards.
The annual award ceremony champions the best work from businesses across Norfolk, with this year seeing a number of community efforts being heralded because of the unique circumstances presented by the pandemic.
The club, along with official charity CSF, have been nominated for the Changing Lives Special Recognition award.
£200,000 was raised by the players, senior staff and board at the club at the start of the pandemic in an attempt to support NHS staff, care workers and some of the most vulnerable people in the local community.
A host of initiatives were carried out including:
- First-team players and staff across the club and CSF calling season ticket holders and members for a friendly chat
- 2,500 care packages delivered to local charities and organisations to distribute further if needed
- Delivery of PPE to hospitals, care homes and medical settings across the region, in conjunction with Norwich School
- Cakes baked and delivered to NHS and care workers in a display of gratitude from the club and CSF
Voting is now open and closes on Wednesday, October 14. To show your support for the club and CSF, click here.
