28 September 2020

Twelve Norwich City players featured for their respective loan clubs across the past week, but none more so than academy forward Isak Thorvaldsson.

Across three matches in Iceland’s Urvalsdeild league, Thorvaldsson played a total of 270 minutes for IA Akranes, who were unbeaten in all of them.

They beat Grotta 3-0 on Monday, Fjolnir 3-1 on Thursday, and drew 2-2 at home to Vikingur Reykjavik on Sunday. Looking like their season is turning a corner, Akranes move up to seventh in the division.

It was also a fruitful week for academy goalkeeper Joe Rose, who played all of Bury Town’s 2-1 FA Cup first qualifying round win at home to Brightlingsea Regent on Tuesday night.

On Saturday, he then kept a clean sheet and saved a penalty in a 1-0 win away to Market Drayton Town in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy.

There were a number of debuts for City loanees during the week, Akin Famewo among them. He played 62 minutes of Charlton Athletic’s 2-0 loss away to Lincoln City on Sunday. The Addicks now sit 18th in League One with one win and two defeats from three games.
