Match Preview: Derby County v Norwich City

9 April 2021

Norwich City travel to Pride Park this weekend with the potential of promotion to the Premier League in front of them.

Should City claim three points, and Swansea City and Brentford both fail to win, Norwich will be promoted.

Our Match Preview looks at how Derby have performed so far this season, as well as the officials in charge of Saturday's match and how you can follow the action live from home.

The opposition

Derby are 18th in the Championship ahead of the weekend following 11 wins, ten draws and 19 defeats.

Recent form has seen the Rams take five points from the last six league games courtesy of draws against Barnsley and Brentford, defeats to Millwall, Stoke City and Reading as well as a 2-0 win at home to Luton Town.

Derby began the season with Philip Cocu at the helm, but he and the club parted ways in November with the Rams rooted to the bottom of the league.

Wayne Rooney was then appointed manager and produced an upturn in results, seeing Derby rise to 18th and eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Colin Kazim-Richards is the club's top scorer this season with seven goals in all competitions.

Head-to-head

In the 69 meetings between Norwich and Derby since 1960, there have been 28 Norwich wins, 22 Derby wins and 19 draws.

Last time we met, Rooney scored a late free-kick at Carrow Road to earn the Rams a 1-0 win in October.

As for our previous trip to Pride Park, that came in October 2018, Timm Klose giving the Canaries the lead before Craig Bryson scored in the 86th minute to salvage a 1-1 draw.

Ref watch

Michael Salisbury has been appointed to take charge of Saturday's match, Richard Wild and Nigel Lugg his assistants and Gavin Ward the fourth official.

Salisbury was last involved in a Norwich game for January's 1-0 win at home to Barnsley.
