Match Preview: Queens Park Rangers v Norwich City

23 April 2021

Norwich City travel to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game against Queens Park Rangers (3pm KO).

Should Norwich beat QPR and Watford fail to win in their 3pm kick-off at home to Millwall, City will be crowned Championship winners.

The opposition

With 17 wins, 11 draws and 15 defeats, QPR are eighth in the Championship ahead of the weekend with 62 points from 43 games.

The Hoops managed just four wins from the opening 22 league games this season, but 2021 saw Mark Warburton’s side turn their fortunes around.

From January 12 to February 20, QPR won six out of seven games played to climb from 19th to 13th.

That spell has been followed by a mostly positive run of form which most recently saw QPR rise to eighth with a 1-0 win at Swansea City.

Lydon Dykes is the club’s top scorer so far this season with 11 goals in all competitions. QPR have a goal difference of 0 after scoring and conceding 51 goals in the league so far.

Head-to-head

In the 126 meetings between Norwich and QPR since 1910, there have been 49 Norwich wins, 41 QPR wins and 36 draws.

Last time we met, Teemu Pukki and Bright Osayi-Samuel both scored penalties in December’s 1-1 draw at Carrow Road.

Our previous visit to Loftus Road came in September 2018, Pukki’s 71st minute goal enough to secure three points that day.

Ref watch

James Linington has been appointed to take charge of Saturday’s game, Matthew Jones and Ian Cooper his assistants and Craig Hicks the fourth official.

Linington was last involved in a Norwich game for January’s 2-0 win at home to Bristol City.
