JOHN MANNING: 1940-2021

Norwich City were saddened to learn of the passing of John Manning.

John’s career spanned 14 years from 1962 to 1976 as a forward for Tranmere Rovers, Shrewsbury Town, Norwich City, Bolton Wanderers, Walsall, Tranmere Rovers, Crewe Alexandra and Barnsley.

He signed for Norwich in 1967 and spent one and a half years at the club, scoring 11 goals in 31 Football League appearances in 1967-68 and ten in 29 in 1968-69.

After retiring from his playing career, John went into coaching for Saudi Arabia’s Under-19s team and later scouted for Birmingham City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Middlesbrough.

Everyone’s thoughts at Norwich are with John’s family and friends at this sad time.
