Norwich City Under-18s got 2021 off to the perfect start as they took a comfortable 5-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at Birmingham County FA on Saturday afternoon.
Three changes were made to the U18s starting eleven from the last game before Christmas break against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Youth Cup, with Ola Okeowo, Oscar Thorn and Joe Duffy all coming into the starting eleven.
Jon Rowe got the game off to a great start less than five minutes in, the young forward, who recently signed his first professional contract with the Canaries, finishing nicely in front of goal.
After seizing the early advantage, the young Canaries looked comfortable from the beginning, finding another goal in the 24th minute. Duffy did well to steal the ball from Albion high up the pitch, finishing the move nicely with a cool finish in front of goal to double the lead.
Just eight minutes went by before City found their third of the afternoon, a wide free-kick bending into the box nicely for Brad Hills to head home inside the 18-yard box and taking the score to three.
Finishing the first-half with a more than impressive performance, the young Canaries were just 45 minutes away from an emphatic win to start their year and second half of the season.
The Canaries didn’t take long at all before finding their fourth-goal of the game, Brad Hills firing another bullet-header past Ronnie Hollingshead as early as the 46th minute.
Oscar Thorn got in on the act shortly after, taking a punt from the edge of the box and finding the back of the net for City's fifth.
Five goals in less than 50 minutes were more than enough for City to take all three points from this game, with an impressive restarting their season.
