Xavi Quintilla was delighted to make his return for Norwich City on Saturday in the FA Cup victory over Coventry.
The on-loan left-back had been absent with complicated hip problem since October but he returned to notch 90 minutes in an impressive afternoon for the Canaries.
Early goals from Kenny McLean and Jordan Hugill saw City through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
“I’m really happy to be back in the team after a long time out,” he said. “It’s great to play with the team and to feel pitch and the ball.
“I’m really pleased and to get the win and go through to the fourth round of the FA Cup too is really good.
“It’s been hard. The injury I’ve had has been very annoying. I’ve tried to work hard every day, sometimes two or three time a day to get back and help the team.
“We know every player is important and I’ve tried to get back quickly to get minutes and make some competition in the team.
“It’s been very frustrating. I thought in the beginning it was a small injury but then the scans said other things.
“I stayed focused and wanted to recover well so I can play well for the team. It was a hard time but I’ve worked hard to come back.”
Reflecting on the match, Quintilla was pleased with how the team navigated their way through a tricky game.
“It felt like my first game here! I’m really happy for the team – we are a very good team and we showed that today.
“We knew it would be a tough game against a good team like Coventry. We did well in the first-half with the two goals in two minutes. This gave us confidence to take into the rest of the game.
“In the second-half, we kept the ball and were very calm. In the end, we deserved to get the win and the clean sheet.”
