Dimitris Giannoulis says he can’t wait for the start of the new Premier League season following the confirmation of his permanent switch to Norwich City.
The Greek international played 16 games on loan at Carrow Road last season having joined the club from Greek Super League side PAOK. And, having helped the club to promotion to the Premier League in that time, the switch has been made permanent.
“I am really happy to be here,” said Dimitris. “After the first four months that was a loan, now it is a permanent deal, and I can’t wait for next season.
“I can’t wait to play against these big players and top teams and to see our limits as players. I expect it will be difficult to play against these teams, but I think we are ready. We will work so hard in pre-season to compete against these top teams. The lads have told me here that the pre-season here is hard, but I am ready for this.”
Dimitris impressed Norwich City supporters with his performances last season, getting forward well from his left-back position to help set up several goals as well as defending resolutely.
He says he came to the club, in January, expecting the Canaries to get promoted and he is settling into the area well.
“It is exactly what I expected,” he added. “Everybody could see that we were the best team on the pitch, so everything was okay for me. When I came here it was a bit risky for me because if the club did not get promoted then, maybe, I would go back to Greece, but in the end everything was fine.
“Moving to a new country was a bit difficult at the start, but the guys here are very friendly. The lads in the dressing room are so good. Here we are like a family. We don’t have any bad guys in the dressing room and that is the most important thing, and I am happy to be here.”
