2 June 2021

A number of Norwich City players are expected to be in action this week for their countries as friendlies ahead of the Euro 2020 Championships take place, alongside qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

At 10.30pm, Onel Hernandez is expected to feature for Cuba as they take on the British Virgin Islands in a World Cup qualifier. The Cubans, who sit fourth in their group, need a victory to keep their qualification hopes alive after losing their opening two games against Guatemala and Curaçao.

Also tonight the Netherlands take on Scotland at 7.45pm, which is expected to see Norwich City keeper Tim Krul feature. Grant Hanley has also been called up to the Scotland squad for the two friendlies and upcoming Euro 2020 campaign, but he is not expected to feature in tonight’s match.

Tomorrow evening Andrew Omobamidele could make his senior bow for the Republic of Ireland having been called up to be part of Stephen Kenny’s squad. They will face Andorra at 5pm in the Estadi Nacial. Also that evening Greece take on Belgium at Stade Roi Baudouin, at 7.45pm, which could see Dimitris Giannoulis line up against the hosts.

On Saturday, attention switches to South America as in the early hours of the morning as Argentina take on Chile at the Estadio Único Madre de Cuidades in the city of Santiago del Estero. Emi Buendia could make his debut for Argentina, who currently sit second in the World Cup qualifying table having won three and drawn one of their opening four games.

On Sunday, Scotland and Netherlands are both in action again. The Scots take on Luxembourg, while the Netherlands host Georgia, both at 5pm. Then at 6pm, Greece face Norway.

On Tuesday, Przemysław Płacheta will hope to be in action for Poland as they host Iceland at 5pm, while the Republic of Ireland are in action away in Hungary at 7pm.

It is then back to World Cup qualifying action for Cuba at 9pm on Tuesday as they face Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The following day, Argentina take on Colombia at 12am in their second World Cup 2022 qualifier. The match will be the last before Argentina embark on their 2021 Copa America campaign in Brazil.
