International preview: Seven Canaries in line for World Cup qualifiers

A host of Norwich City first-team and academy players are set to feature for their respective international sides in competitive matches and friendlies over the international break.

Teemu Pukki will almost certainly add to his Finland apperance tally as the Huuhkajat face Bosnia Ukraine in World Cup qualifiers, before playing Switzerland in a friendly.

January signing Orjan Nyland could feature for Norway against Gibraltar in their first of the World Cup qualifiers. Norway then face Turkey and Montenegro for their final qualifiers of this international break.

Onel Hernandez could make a historical debut for the Cuba national team as the side have called up professional players who reside outside of the country for the first time in their history. Cuba play Guatemala and Curacao in their CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers.

After qualifying for UEFA Euro 2020 in the last international break, City duo Kenny McLean and Grant Hanley are both in contention to feature for Scotland in their World Cup qualifiers against Austria. Scotland then face Israel and Faroe Islands where the pair could also feature for their nation.

Meanwhile, City shot-stopper Tim Krul could feature for the Netherlands in their World Cup qualifier against Turkey, a win getting the Dutch side off to the perfect start in Group G of the European qualifiers. Krul could then go on to feature for 'Oranje' against Latvia and Gibraltar.

Dimitris Giannoulis could make appearances for Greece as they face Spain in the first of their World Cup qualifiers. The Greek side then face Honduras in a friendly before finishing the international break off with a qualifier against Georgia.

For Poland, Przemyslaw Placheta could feature against Hungary in their World Cup qualifier. Poland also face Andorra and England in this break, where Placheta could also feature for his nation.

City trio Max Aarons, Todd Cantwell and Oliver Skipp could all feature for England as Three Lions U21s face Switzerland in the UEFA Euro Under-21 Championship, before facing Portugal and Croatia in the same tournament.

Republic of Ireland Under-21s face their Welsh counterparts in a friendly match on Friday, with Andrew Omobamidele and Academy ‘keeper Sam Blair in contention for debuts at that level.

Finally, City U23s striker Sebastian Soto could help see the USMNT to the Olympics in their CONCACAF qualifiers. The forward has already featured for the side in their 4-0 win over the Dominican Republic.

The USMNT face Mexico next before the semi-finals and finals of the qualifiers later in the break.
