Match Preview: Norwich City v Blackburn Rovers

19 March 2021

Norwich City host Blackburn Rovers at Carrow Road on Saturday (3pm UK) for the final Sky Bet Championship fixture before the international break.

Our Match Preview looks at Rovers’ season so far, the officials in charge of the game and how you can follow the action live from home.

The opposition

With 12 wins, nine draws and 16 defeats in the league this season, Blackburn sit 15th on 45 points ahead of the weekend.

February saw Tony Mowbray’s side lose five in a row before holding Coventry City to a 1-1 draw. Form has improved in March courtesy of a win at Millwall, draws against Swansea City and Bristol City and losses to Reading and Brentford.

Adam Armstrong is the club’s top scorer so far this season with 20 goals in all competitions.

Norwich City loanee Tom Trybull has featured for Blackburn throughout this season, recently getting an assist against Swansea, but will be ineligible to face his parent club.

In the 46 meetings between Norwich and Blackburn since 1912, there have been 15 Norwich wins, 19 Blackburn wins and 12 draws.

Last time we met, Teemu Pukki’s brace at Ewood Park saw Norwich return to East Anglia with a 2-1 win in December.

Blackburn’s previous visit to Carrow Road came in April 2019, Marco Stiepermann and Mario Vrancic on the scoresheet that day as Norwich won 2-1 in the Championship.

Ref watch

Keith Stroud has been appointed to take charge of Saturday’s game, Ian Cooper and Jonathan Hunt his assistants and James Bell the fourth official.

Stroud’s previous game at Carrow Road came in January as Emi Buendia was sent off in a 0-0 draw at home to Middlesbrough.
