Match Preview: Sheffield Wednesday v Norwich City

12 March 2021

Norwich City travel to Hillsborough Stadium this weekend for Sunday's 12.15pm kick-off away to Sheffield Wednesday.

Our Match Preview takes a look at the Owls' season so far, the officials in charge of the match and how you can follow the action live from home.

The opposition

With nine wins, seven draws and 18 defeats from 34 games, Sheffield Wednesday sit 23rd in the Championship going into the weekend.

Recent form has seen the Owls lose six games in a row, four under the stewardship of Tony Pulis to Stoke City, Birmingham City, Brentford and Luton Town.

Following 3-2 defeat at Kenilworth Road, Pulis was replaced by Darren Moore, who left League One side Doncaster Rovers for the appointment.

Since then, Sheffield Wednesday have lost 2-1 to Rotherham United and 3-0 to Reading.

Callum Paterson is the club's top scorer so far this season with seven goals in all competitions.

In the 58 meetings between Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday since 1908, there have been 18 wins for the Canaries, 24 wins for the Owls and 16 draws.

Last time we met, Josh Martin and Max Aarons both scored late on to come from 1-0 down to win 2-1 in front of 2,000 at Carrow Road in December.

As for our previous trip to Hillsborough, that came in November 2018, goals from Teemu Pukki, Emi Buendia and Dennis Srbeny securing a 4-0 win for Daniel Farke's side that day.

Ref watch

Tony Harrington has been appointed to take charge of Sunday's game, Daniel Leach and Richard Wild his assistants and Jeremy Simpson the fourth official.

Harrington has seen over three Norwich games this season - wins against Middlesbrough, Cardiff City and Rotherham United.
