Norwich City cruised to victory in the Norfolk County FA Women's Cup final against Mulbarton Ladies.
The Canaries controlled the match from start to finish with Ellie Smith impressing in the centre of midfield and Kathryn Stanley producing a clinical player-of-the-match perfomance upfront as she netted a hat-trick, with the first a sublime finish into the top corner of the net from 20 yards out.
Norwich took the lead after six minutes when Smith picked up the ball in midfield and threaded a pass into the path of Amie Durrant who, having got to the byline, cut a ball back for Megan Todd to cushion the ball home from close range.
The Canaries continued to push forward with Stanley inches away from getting on the end of a low cross from Smith and Durrant looping a shot onto the top of the crossbar with an effort from distance.
Kate Parsons then rattled the woodwork again, with a header from a corner, before playing a wonderful defence splitting pass for Durrant to run onto and chip the Mulbarton keeper Cara Anderson to extend Norwich’s lead.
Anderson then pulled off a good save to deny Norwich a third, from a powerful Parsons header, before Stanley fired a shot from 20 yards into the top corner of the net two minutes before the break .
It took just five minutes of the second half for Norwich to extend their lead to 4-0 as a bursting run from Smith into the area drew a foul inside the box and Parsons stepped up to score from the penalty spot.
Then shortly after the hour Snelling got down the right and delivered a good cross to the back post for Stanley to fire home her second of the match. She then completed her hat-trick with 15 minutes of the match remaining as Mulbarton struggled to clear a couple of ball into the area and she picked up the loose ball on the right side of the box before firing a shot across Anderson and into the corner of the net.
The rout was then completed in the final 10 minutes of the match as Parsons headed home her second of the match from a corner to make it 7-0.
