Into their final game of the 2020-2021 season, Norwich City Under-18s travel to Bodymoor Heath Training Ground to face Aston Villa U18s this Tuesday (11am KO).
Ahead of the game, the young Canaries are ninth in the U18 Premier League table, a win over the Villans placing them above West Bromwich Albion who have already played their last game of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa sit seventh in the table, six points ahead of City with 35 from their 23 games. Should results go their way, a win over the Canaries could see the Villans climb as high as fourth in a tightly-packed midtable.
City are looking to sign the campaign off on a win against Tuesday’s opposition, after not seeing a win since their 5-0 over Southampton back in April.
In their last outing, the young Canaries took a 3-0 loss to Fulham at the Lotus Training Centre after three rapid-fire goals from the Cottagers in the second half.
The game was goalless in the competitive fixture by the half time break, Fulham needing a win to take their title chase against Crystal Palace to the final day. A second-chance effort from Luke Harris gave Fulham their opener after Jayden St. Paul’s save fell out to the striker, before Mika Biereth’s brace wrapped the win up for the Cottagers.
The U18s last faced Aston Villa in September earlier in the season, taking a narrow 1-0 loss to the side at the Lotus Training Centre courtesy of Brad Young’s penalty conversion.
While U18s coach Greg Crane expects a good showing from the young Canaries in every game they play, he admitted he’s looking for a ‘great performance’ in their last fixture of the campaign.
“I expect a great performance every game, this last game of the season is the final chance to put on the yellow shirt and show what they have before the summer break.
“It’s one last game to hopefully put on a good performance, get a win, and sail off into the sunset.”
