Norwich City ended their Under-18 Premier League South campaign with a 3-2 defeat away at Aston Villa.
The result saw the Canaries finish the season in ninth following a run of four straight defeats.
City made just one change from the side that had lost to Fulham last time out, as goalkeeper Sam Blair returned to the starting line-up.
The Canaries started the match brightly, testing Villa keeper Oliwer Zych with a couple of early efforts on goal before full-back Ola Okeowo showed good attacking intent to put Norwich City in front after 19 minutes.
However, the lead didn’t last long as Aston Villa won a free kick out wide and Coolan McBride centred for Ruben Shakpoke to net against his former club.
McBride then went from provider to goalscorer seven minutes later as Mikell Barnes cut the ball back into his path and he fired confidently past Blair.
Norwich continued to have the better of the game in terms of chances though and deservedly got back on level terms before the break when Kenny Coker and Alex Matos combined well to set up Oscar Thorn to score.
The second half started off a very even encounter but as the minutes ticked by Aston Villa started to look the more dangerous of the two sides going forward firing a number of efforts at goal without troubling Blair.
However, they found their accuracy with 10 minutes to go as Tommi O’Reilly set up Tristan Abledeen-Goodridge to score.
At this point Norwich had already switched their attack, sending on Tom Dickson-Peters and Tony Springett for Coker and Thorn.
However, it was Villa who finished the strongly and saw out the remainder of the game with only one late effort on target threatening their goal.
