Under-18s well beaten by Tottenham Hotspur second half comeback

4 May 2021

Norwich City Under-18s conceded four goals in their 5-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday afternoon.

The U18s fielded a varied side from the one that lost 3-2 to Reading on Saturday, with Sam Blair, Jaden Warner, Nelson Khumbeni, Tony Springett and Tom Dickson-Peters all coming into the starting XI.

City started brighter out of the two teams, finding the first goal just seven minutes in thanks to a composed finish in front of goal from Under-23s regular Springett.

After a quiet first half with little by way of chances, Springett doubled the young Canaries lead with another fine shot beating the Spurs shot-stopper and finding the back of the net.

Reducing the deficit just before half time, Spurs’ prospect Dane Scarlett then pulled one back for Tottenham with the last kick of the half.

Coming out for the second half, Spurs levelled almost immediately with a cross slipping through the Canaries defence, leaving Roshaun Mathurin to head in past Blair.

Just over ten minutes later, the lead would soon fall into the north London side’s hands as Jamie Donley finished Michael Craig’s set-up for their third.

Keeping their momentum going, Marqes Muir then found Tottenham’s fourth to give them a two-goal cushion, before Donley found his brace and Spurs’ fifth of the afternoon to take all three points.
