Vacancies: Scouting and recruitment department analysts

Norwich City are delighted to announce two exciting opportunities to work within our scouting and recruitment department at the club as an analyst.

Recruitment Analyst

Location: Lotus Training Centre
Contract and Hours: Permanent, 40 hours a week, as and when required  
Salary: Competitive plus Company Benefits  

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Recruitment Analyst to join the scouting and recruitment department at Norwich City Football Club. The successful candidate will play a leading role in identifying, tracking and monitoring talent through the application of data analysis, video analysis and modern scouting methods.

Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Play a leading role in the identification, tracking and monitoring of players from senior and emerging talent markets.
  • Statistical profiling of players in line with our playing philosophy and positional requirements.
  • Conduct extensive video analysis on targeted players from designated leagues/teams.
  • Create video reports on targeted players to support decision making process.
  • Maintain active technical recruitment shortlists to ensure effective tracking and monitoring of players.
  • Carry out background research and due diligence on players of interest to support the decision-making process.
  • Creation of detailed player dossiers and presentations for key stakeholders.
  • Creation of player videos, using industry leading video analysis software and video annotation tools.
  • Gather market intelligence to support the scouting and recruitment process.
  • Collaborate with the data analyst and contribute to the development new metrics and tools to support the scouting and recruitment process.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration exists within the department to drive innovation & growth.

Essential

  • Related sports degree or equivalent in experience.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in an elite football environment (performance analysis and/or scouting) or demonstrable portfolio of work within this subject area.
  • Excellent understanding of talent identification processes and demonstrable tactical/technical football knowledge.
  • Experience using industry leading video analysis software.
  • Experience applying data to support the scouting and recruitment process.

Desirable

  • Related Sports Masters’ degree or equivalent in experience.
  • FA Level 3 talent identification.
  • Experience in using SBG MatchTracker and Focus software.

Data Analyst


Location: Lotus Training Centre

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Analyst to join the scouting and recruitment department at Norwich City Football Club. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the identification and recruitment of talent through the application of data analytics within the scouting & recruitment process. This is a unique opportunity that will allow the successful candidate to have a significant impact within an elite football environment.

Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop data infrastructure, cloud-based data storage solutions and integrations to automate processes & optimise delivery of data.
  • Create automated statistical reports & tools using business intelligence software and/or web applications to support the scouting and recruitment process.
  • Create bespoke data visualisations.
  • Play an active role in the identification of players from senior and emerging talent markets.
  • Develop statistical models and metrics to support the identification of talent in line with our playing philosophy and positional requirements.
  • Utilise tracking data (x&y) and freeze-frame positional data to develop contextual metrics in line with our playing philosophy and positional requirements.
  • Innovate and develop new methods to Identify talent.
  • Translate data into valuable insights for decision makers & key stakeholders.
  • Conduct research projects & develop industry benchmarks to support strategic decision-making and provide data driven insights.

Required Skills

  • Graduate in a numerate degree (e.g. mathematics, computer science, economics etc).
  • Proven ability in applying data analysis to support decision making within an organisation.
  • A strong knowledge of data management and managing AWS cloud-based servers or equivalent.
  • Advanced skills in a statistical programming language e.g. R/Python.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics and data science.
  • Knowledge of data visualisation principles and experience using data visualisation tools (tableau, PowerBI, ggplot, matplotlib).
  • Experience of relational databases and ETL processes.
  • Evidence of working with & deriving insights from football data.
  • Ability to work with large & complex data sets including event data and tracking data (x&y).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate technical information, clearly and concisely.
  • Passionate about problem solving through the application of data and driven to innovate and implement new ideas.
