ALAN Irvine is targeting a positive end to the season for his Norwich City team against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday (12pm).

Irvine will take caretaker charge of the Canaries for the final time as they look for three points in front of their home supporters at Carrow Road.

He told Norwich City TV on Thursday: "There's always something to play for, even though it doesn't mean anything in terms of the league in one way or another.

"We have professional pride to play for and I think every club likes to go out at the end with a good performance in front of your own fans.

"I think it's great to have your last game at home because it gives you the opportunity to put on a good performance before acknowledging the fans at the end of the game.

"I hope the players who are leaving will get a good send-off from the fans because that's important to them, it will mean a great deal."

Rangers secured their status in the second tier with victory over Nottingham Forest last weekend, with Irvine adding: "They will obviously come in a relaxed manner.

"It's not as important a game as it might have been had they not got that win last week but they will be a threat.

"They will come here looking to get a good result to finish off their season on a high. It will be the usually difficult Championship game.

"I've come across Ian (Holloway) a lot. He was manager of Blackpool when I was manager of Preston and we go back a long way before that.

"He's someone who I like and respect in terms of what he's done as a manager over the years. He's done a really good job at Queens Park Rangers."
