Results over performances now the only option, says City playmaker

NORWICH City have left themselves with no margin for error in the Sky Bet Championship and must shelve the excuses for that being the case, says midfielder Alex Pritchard.

A stuttering season leaves the Canaries with ground to make up on the top six, with just seven games remaining as they prepare to visit Huddersfield Town on Wednesday evening.

Such context means Alan Irvine's men go into the game knowing little less than victory will keep the challenge alive, something which the 23-year-old is acutely aware of.

"A lot of things can happen in this league but time is ticking," Pritchard told on Tuesday afternoon.

"We can win big games like that. We haven't done it this season and we've got ourselves to blame but we have to get on with it and go again.

"With the squad we've got, we can go and win every game. We can't look for excuses anymore. It doesn't matter what we say, we have to show it now.

"We've got to go there and disappoint them by doing what they did to us at home. If we do what we did at Aston Villa but take our chances you know what's going to happen."

The playmaker has enjoyed a run in the side of late, in the midst of what he readily admits has been a frustrating campaign both on an individual and collective level.

"I've been waiting a long time and it's been a stop-start season for me," he added.

"That's not what I want but at the moment I'm playing games. You grow in confidence when that's the case and just want to get on the ball and make things happen.

"At Aston Villa you could see I'm getting into a groove. My fitness is up and hopefully I can kick on to where I should be at."
